Jelavic closes in on Rangers move
Jelavic refused to play for Rapid Vienna against Aston Villa Rangers have reportedly agreed 4m fee for CroatianWalter Smith expects Nikica Jelavic to complete his long-awaited move to Rangers this afternoon. The Scottish champions confirmed last night that he would be arriving in Glasgow to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms. His move to Ibrox appeared imminent when the 24-year-old forward refused to play for Rapid Vienna in last nights Europa League play-off against Aston Villa. Rangers have reportedly agreed a fee of 4m for the Croatian, who will be their third signing following those of James Beattie and Vladimir Weiss."Its been quite a protracted one," said Smith. "There has been a few hitches and [the chief executive] Martin Bain has had to work extremely hard to get that one over the line."We will hopefully do that this afternoon and fingers crossed thats the case. The player over that time has always said that he would like to join us and hopefully that can be completed this afternoon."RangersTransfer windowRapid Vienna guardian.co.uk © Guardian News & Media Limited 2010 | Use of this content is subject to our Terms & Conditions | More [detalii...]

Red Bulls Mark Webber dominates in practice for Malaysian grand prix
Australian leads in morning and afternoon sessions So far so good for us, Webber saysRed Bulls Mark Webber put a disappointing race in his native Australia behind him to lead in both practice sessions for Sundays Malaysian Grand Prix.In the morning session, Webber edged past McLarens Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher of Mercedes. In the afternoon run he again came out on top, this time ahead of McLarens Jenson Button, Hamilton and his Red Bull team-mate, Sebastian Vettel.Webber, who finished fifth in Melbourne, said: "We look OK, but its still early days in a race weekend. We got some dry running in and the car performed well. It was reliable, which was always a nice bonus. We got to check all the tyres - including the new tyre that Pirelli brought here. Its very hot. We need to look at the information we got today, but so far so good for us."Vettel, who won the seasons first race, in Australia, said: "We completed a lot of laps this morning and this afternoon we did more or less what was planned. We didnt have any big problems, got a lot of mileage and took a lot of things on board."It was also an encouraging day for McLaren, who believe they are closer to Red Bull than at this stage last year. Having looked woefully off the pace in pre-season testing, they enjoyed a revival in Melbourne and here they appear to have maintained the impetus of that improvement.Formula OneRed BullMotor sportPaul Weaver guardian.co.uk © Guardian News & Media Limited 2011 | Use of this content is subject to our Terms & Conditions | More [detalii...]
